Silhouette With Deer

Artist: Alyza Konopka - Located at Citizens Park - 101 2nd Ave NW Slave Lake

"This mural is inspired by the vast gradient of colorful layered skies that often sit above the rolling Boreal Forest hills that surround the town of Slave Lake. Using cool and cold tones, the hope is that viewers will feel a stillness and decompressing effect while being immersed in peacefulness that nature often brings in this beautiful area." - Alyza Konopka

Pelican

Artist: Brie Adkins - Located at the Trim Line Building - 609 Main St SE, Slave Lake

"Just off of the busy Main Street of Slave Lake, I noticed around me so much sound. A symphony of chatter; honking, revving, bass thumping, people yelling go, and waving hello to those they know, people on the street shouting at cars, police patrolling, sirens signalling - and all the dog lovers chatting with their pups. It is quite a musical street I was painting on. I think about how it contrasts to the painting, the encounters we have, how nature dictates those encounters must exist through proximity. I think about the act of sharing space and all the room for conversation there is around it, but usually how it’s only really observed solely, it’s your encounter, your reaction, your music singing.. but these things exist so frequently and profoundly together, in the urban landscape, in rural settings and even for wildlife and animals. So, the mural’s story is to tell just a small side to the dynamics of meeting by chance, of sharing space and crossroad encounters." - Brie Adkins

A Summer’s Wish

IMG_8409.jpg

Artist: Ashley Rosenow - Located at 201 4 Ave NW, Slave Lake

"A Summer’s Wish was inspired by the simple magic of childhood summers on the shores of Slave Lake. The design grew from the idea of a young girl’s imagination bringing the beach to life with bubbles carrying her wishes into the sky, friends playing along the water, fireworks sparkling above, and castles built from dreams and sand. My hope was to create a piece that invites the community to pause, smile, and remember the wonder of summer days by the lake, making memories that will last forever." - Ashley Rosenow
